They will pump stuff that will hardly flow. I use them for pumping out grain elevator basements. I have a couple of the 3 inch diaphragm pumps. There will be a venturi in the suction line where the pump outlet attaches to create the suction. Pump will have a floating intake and suck just water. Lots of pumps for sale but some say trash or dredge but have a cast iron impeller. TMS has a Venturi Dredge Pump System, for the removal of silt, sand and gravel, in hard to access areas, such as marina pontoons and under bridges. I was thinking of a 3" or 4" trash pump or dredge pump with some sort of high pressure nozzle to stir things up. I am clearing out material to make access from a river to the bank. I assume I need a chrome or hardened steel impeller and wear plate because of the sand and small gravel. I need to do some small scale sand and mud dredging.
